I first met Ricky Suttington in December 2018. As a Case Manager whose primary role is to link individuals to medical insurance, my purpose for meeting Ricky was to discuss and explain his accessibility to coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The “open enrollment period” that occurs between November 1st and December 15th was never my favorite part of the year; however, since walking into that first appointment with Ricky, I now look forward to this time of the year as it creates an opportunity for our partnership to occur. It is with great honor that I write this letter to speak to the professional characteristics I see when working with him.

ACA can be confusing and complex when navigating through insurance enrollments but Ricky showed having an aptitude for understanding the processes involved; he learned quickly. Ricky pays attention to detail and I have observed him to have strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Tasks associated with ACA require one to be organized and I have observed Ricky develop his own organizational style that helped him keep paperwork and appointment dates current. Ricky always kept his appointments scheduled with me, arriving promptly, and prepared to complete the task at hand. The quality and the timeliness of his work do not go unnoticed.

Over the years, I have had opportunities to speak to Ricky about subjects other than insurance. These conversations have allowed me to get to know more of Ricky outside of our work together. He has commitment to improve not only his life but the lives of others. As a social worker, I appreciate this characteristic in Ricky most. Ricky is a kind individual with a drive not seen in many people. To not hire Ricky, would create a loss and I would support him in any endeavor he chooses.
